AECOM Environmental Field Technician in Calgary- Alberta

Job Summary
The AECOM Calgary Environment team is looking for a Field Technician to
conduct groundwater monitoring programs- environmental drilling investigations
and remediation activities. The successful candidate will be working within a
team of other technicians and junior engineers under the supervision of
professional engineers and geologists. The position will involve assisting in
all aspects of environmental projects including proposal preparation-
laboratory procurement- subcontractor coordination- desk studies- field work-
and report preparation.
Responsibilities include:
DIirecting heavy equipment and drill rig contractors
Implementation of ground disturbance procedures/regulations
Provide technical expertise and trouble shooting skills in the field for
environmental investigation and remediation projects in a site supervisor role
Groundwater Monitoring – purging and sample collection from monitoring wells
Drilling – environmental drilling- ground disturbance procedures- soil
description and monitoring well installation
Soil sampling – field screening- soil sample collection procedures
Field notes – taking organized and details field notes- recording observations
Safety – Support- Implement and steward AECOM`s/Client`s safety programs by
leading and participating in field meetings- oversight of subcontractors-
contribute to and following safe work practices-
developing/following/implementing safety plans and a day to day basis-
recognizing hazards.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum High School Diploma + 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated
equivalency of experience and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications
The below are preferred:
Technical Diploma or Degree in Engineering- Geology/Hydrogeology; Environmental Science; or similar
Experience in construction management- contract execution- field management- contractor & construction oversight.
2+ years of professional assessment and remediation experience working with oil and gas clients
Strong team work- able to listen to requirements and work well with others
Excellent attention to detail and a thorough approach to work
Strong communication skills
Possess excellent report writing skills in English
Ability to learn new tasks
Must be Flexible and hardworking and willing to travel within the province/country for work
Certificate : Valid and unrestricted driver`s license
