Job Summary
As a part of our continued growth in Americas and recent increase in water /
wastewater projects in Western Canada- our McLoughlin Point Waste Water
Treatment Plant (MPWWTP) project office in Victoria- BC is actively seeking an
experienced Electrical and Controls Resident Engineer for immediate
employment. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate
a career in design- function- implementation- start-up and commissioning of
electrical and controls equipment components specific to water and wastewater
engineering projects.

Along with completing the MPWWTP project- the incumbent will work o
distribution and automation aspects of multiple projects including ne
installations- upgrades of existing systems- testing- commissioning- an
process optimization part of a larger specialized team with a mixture of
junior- intermediate and senior project team members supporting AECOM`s water
business with a variety of clients throughout Western Canada.
The responsibilities of this position include- but are not limited to:
Independently work to provide EI&C engineering tasks for municipal projects to clients based in Western Canada.
Design and develop contract specifications- studies and reports for electrical power and distribution systems- grounding- lighting- cable tray system- cable feeder sizing- soft-start and variable speed drives- standby power- and low tension systems (fire alarm- telecommunications and security systems) focused on low voltage applications.
Design and specify process instrumentation and control devices for various processes including water/wastewater treatment and industrial applications.
Provide electrical discipline leadership on small to mid-scale water and wastewater projects under minimal supervision to ensure that engineering and design deliverables comply with applicable regulations- standards and sounds engineering practices.
Take direction from Projects` Managers- Leads and Process Engineers- and work closely with other discipline Designers and Engineers as a key team player for coordination and liaison of project deliverables under minimal supervision.
Strictly adhere to AECOM|s project design and specification standards- including capability of learning and adopting clients| standard and requirements as required.
Ensure accuracy- completeness and quality of technical aspect on project documentation produced in accordance with AECOM QA/QC procedures and with the clients| standards and expectations
Ability to proactively participate- manage and organize the activity of other less experienced or junior team members- to provide supervision to designers- and efficiently and effectively coordinate multiple work assignments and projects.
Ensure that project deliverables are produced in a timely manner to meet expected quality and allocated budget
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing for reporting to Project Managers/Leads- and with client as required.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor|s Degree in Electrical Engineering- from a recognized/accredited post-secondary institution;
8+ years related water/wastewater industry and engineering design experience in a multi-disciplinary electrical- instrumentation & control environment;
Registered Professional in Canada (EGBC preferred) or eligibility to quickly obtain EGBC registration;
Applicable experience in electrical related design and commissioning- preferably encompassing electrical distribution systems and equipment up to 25 KV- 5kV distribution- 600V distribution- MCC`s- variable speed drives- and instrumentation & control sys
Preferred Qualifications
15+ years of progressively responsible applicable experience within a Consulting Engineering environment- with municipal or/and light industrial projects. Exposure to Water / Wastewater (municipal) design an asset;
Experience on SCADA- control and automation systems design and development preferred;
Experience on designs of substation- medium voltages power distribution- standby power generation- transformers- up to 25kV systems;
Experience with Industrial electrical power distribution;
Instrumentation/Controls design experience;
Proficient in the use of power analysis software such as EasyPower- ETAP and SKM is an asset
Prior experience and qualification in Project Management will be considered as an asset.
Experience on tendering- construction service- start-up and commissioning- site supervision and field inspection will be a definite asset.
