AECOM Environmental Planner in Mississauga- Ontario
Canada – Ontario- Mississauga
Job Summary
Manages complex planning studies- development applications and reviews.
Reviews and processes complex comprehensive plan amendments- rezoning- annexations- site plans and plats.
Conducts research and prepares statistical reports on land use- physical- social and economic issues.
Provides professional planning assistance to member communities on varied land use and transportation projects.
Develops plans- studies and analyses on regional basis.
Works in regional program areas relating to natural/water resources planning- community development- hazard mitigation- coastal zone management- and others.
Performs field inspections to gather data relevant to the development review process and/or to verify that development projects comply with approved plans.
Conducts meetings and presents reports and other findings to staff with advisory boards and elected officials.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum Requirements
BA/BS + 4 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Bachelors degree or diploma should be in Environmental Planning- Environmental Science- Environmental Studies- Planning or related field
Strong writing and presentation abilities
Strong analytical and problem solving skills- report writing skills and ability to work well with a team
Ability to plan and prioritize work to manage multiple assignments at one time
Preferred Qualifications
Master`s degree in Environmental Planning- Environmental Science- Environmental Studies- Planning or related field
Eligibility for membership in a professional body (e.g. Registered Professional Planner (RPP and MCIP); or Canadian Environmental Professional (EP)
Experience engaging with Aboriginal communities is an asset
Familiarity with the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act- and the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act is an asset
Familiarity with the Fisheries Act- Endangered Species Act- Navigation Protection Act- Environmental Protection Act and other relevant legislation
Knowledge of other relevant Ontario Legislation and Provincial Policy (i.e.- the Planning Act- the Greenbelt Act- etc.)
Bilingual (English and French) an asset
