Job Summary
The Water Division of AECOM is actively seeking an enthusiastic and talented
Senior Civil Engineer for immediate employment our Victoria- BC office. This
role is to bring new opportunities to our growing office- successfully manage
new and existing projects- manage the Operations and Administrative side of
the office and be part of our regional succession plan. The successful
candidate will work with our current manager over approximately one year prior
to a planned retirement. This person will have responsibilities to grow and
expand the Victoria based team and to manage Victoria office operations. Th
role is a blend of project execution- team guidance and management
marketing/business development and workgroup/office Administration functions
it will appeal to someone looking for increased responsibilities in a
interesting and rewarding career on Vancouver Island.
From the project side- the qualified applicant will have an understanding and
significant experience in civil engineering- civil technology and construction
management principles and will be familiar with the design- construction and
operations and maintenance of municipal infrastructure systems. From the team
management side- the role will include team building- mentoring staff- client
management and proposal preparation. Skills you will likely use or develop in
this job include project management- staff supervision- civil engineering-
construction management- and report / proposal writing all in a friendly-
fast-paced consulting engineering work environment
She/he will be expected to work successfully within a team environment and be
able to communicate effectively with other project team members and customers.
He/she will have a high level of initiative- motivation- and display drive-
energy and enthusiasm for getting things done. The successful candidate will
be expected to support in the delivery of infrastructure to customers in a
variety of market sectors- but primarily related to municipal water-
wastewater and storm water conveyance and treatment systems.
Working knowledge of water/wastewater/stormwater conveyance infrastructure in a Municipal environment.
Design of civil systems associated with municipal water and/or wastewater conveyance facilities.
Design of systems associated with lift stations- pump stations and other mechanical equipment associated with water and wastewater utilities.
Manage projects
Act as direct interface with clients
Perform constructability reviews
Prepare documentation for design projects and reports
Preparation of project specifications and contract documents; construction cost estimates.
Perform construction inspections and contract administration
Perform Asset Management evaluations of water/wastewater/stormwater infrastructure systems
Additional responsibilities will include client communication and management;
identification and acquisition of new business opportunities; assistance with
proposal preparation; contract preparation and negotiation; coordination with
regulatory agencies; project planning- budgeting- and scheduling; responsible
for Operations and Administrative matters relating to staff resourcing and
utility- project budget performance- overall staff performance and workgroup
profits and losses.
Minimum Requirements
8+ years of related experience with civil engineering- design and construction inspection
Experience with municipal water- wastewater or stormwater conveyance and infrastructure
Bachelor`s Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
Eligible for registration as P.Eng in British Columbia
Proficient with MS Office Suite
Valid BC Class V Driver|s License
Excellent attention to detail
Excellent writing skills
Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues- clients and contractors
Experience with staff management and administration.
Preferred Qualifications
10+ years of related experience with civil engineering- design and construction inspection
Training and experience in project management is a benefit.
MMCD Contract Administration certification is a benefit
Experience with office management and administration in a consulting engineering environment is a benefit.
