Job Summary
AECOM is actively seeking a Civil Engineering Inspector/CAD Designer for
employment in the Kitchener- ON office. The successful candidate will have an
understanding of civil engineering technology- CAD- and have proven experience
in the inspection/design of municipal infrastructure. She/he will be expected
to work within a team environment and be able to communicate effectively with
other project team members and customers. He/she will have a high level of
initiative- motivation- and displays drive- energy and enthusiasm for getting
things done. The successful candidate will be expected to support in the
delivery of infrastructure to customers primarily within the municipal water

wastewater and stormwater sector.

The responsibilities of this position include- but are not limited to:

Inspect all phases of construction to ensure that the work is carried out in accordance to specifications regarding material requirements- alignment- grade- finish- compaction- etc.

Document the site conditions- equipment- manpower usage- material installations- quantities and the work being performed by the Contractor

Confirm that all onsite testing during installation are in conformance with the Contract Specifications

Respond to contractor and public inquiries

Ensures deficiencies are corrected prior to acceptance of the work

Design for municipal infrastructure using AutoCAD- Civil 3D- and MicroStation

Working on complex data sets in conjunction with other CAD and GIS technical staff

Ensuring overall data quality and integrity

Prepare civil design drawings and design calculations

Prepare documentation for design projects and reports

Undertake quality control procedures

Assures that engineering related issues are promptly relayed to the Project Manager for action and follows up to assure timeliness of resolution efforts

Minimum Requirements

Design experience in surface grading- water and sewer pipe networks and detail design

Experience working with AutoCAD and Civil 3D 2016

Proficient with MS Office Suite

Excellent attention to detail

Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues- contractors and clients

Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment

Preferred Qualifications

Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology (or equivalent)

2+ years of related experience in municipal civil engineering design and CAD

Certified or eligible for certification as a C.E.T and a member of the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists

Experience with Civil 3D 2016 to current versions and Bentley Microstation V8i

Good time management skills

Construction inspection experience
