Job Summary
AECOM is seeking Labourers/ Welder Helpers to join our Nutrien project
located in Carseland- Alberta. This is a temporary position on a 14/7
rotation. Please note that the shift rotation schedule will vary.
Labourers assist skilled trades people and perform a wide range of tasks at
construction sites. A Welder Helper assists welders in performing a wide range
of tasks at construction sites.
Responsibilities
Demolition and waste removal.
Cleaning and preparation of construction sites.

Digging and trenching.

Loading- unloading- identifying- and distributing materials and equipment.

Assisting carpenters with form work (Installation and stripping).

Placing concrete and snow removal.

Act as a tool runner (distribute tools to and from work faces)

Spotting for heavy equipment (Guiding movement in and around work areas)

Cleaning ofcompanyvehicles and/or equipment.

Ground-man for rigging activities.

Cleaning and preparation of construction components (Modules- Process equipment etc.).

Join or sever metals in beams- girders- vessels- piping and other metal components

Make metal parts used in construction and manufacturing plants- and assist to weld parts- tools- machines and equipment

Assist welders in use of different welding processes and fillers depending upon the type of metal- its size and shape- and requirements for finished product strength.

Develop patterns for projects or follow directions given in layouts- blueprints and work orders; clean- check for defects and shape component parts- sometimes using a cutting torch weld parts together.

Assist welders in setting up equipment- preparing tools.

Any other task required by welders.

Be skilful in the fusing of metals using prescribed welding applications

Have a working knowledge of the welding equipment involved with the various welding procedures

Have a thorough knowledge of metals- arc electrodes- welding gases and gas welding filler rods

Recognize defective welds; know the cause and proper procedure for the repair of the defective area

Have a working knowledge of mathematics calculations pertaining to the welding trade

Have a working knowledge of the required codes

Be familiar with the work of other trades people in affiliated trades

Perform assigned tasks in accordance with quality and production standards required by industry

Have a valid CWB in the process|s being used

Have a valid B-pressure ticket in the processes being used if required

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Jr. Welding Technologist will play a key role in the development and
qualification of welding procedures required for the FCFR project. All welding
procedures shall be qualified per the applicable ASME Codes and Bruce Power
Technical Specification requirements pertaining to the FCFR project.

The Jr. Welding Technologist will directly assist the Welding Specialists who
are the Technical Leads for the FCFR welding procedure qualification. This Co-
Op position is suitable for an Engineering or Technologist student interested
in pursuing a career in Welding Engineering and Technology.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Preparation of detailed procedures to be used for the control of mechanized Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW)

Recording and monitoring of essential welding parameters during weld development and qualification

Assist with identification of Tooling or Consumable related issues during the welding development stage

Assist with welding related validation studies (such as performing heat sink effect analysis) as required

Preparation of Technical Reports related to the FCFR Welding Program
