Job Summary
AECOM is seeking Labourers/ Welder Helpers to join our Nutrien project
located in Carseland- Alberta. This is a temporary position on a 14/7
rotation. Please note that the shift rotation schedule will vary.
Labourers assist skilled trades people and perform a wide range of tasks at
construction sites. A Welder Helper assists welders in performing a wide range
of tasks at construction sites.
Responsibilities
Demolition and waste removal.
Cleaning and preparation of construction sites.

Digging and trenching.

Loading- unloading- identifying- and distributing materials and equipment.

Assisting carpenters with form work (Installation and stripping).

Placing concrete and snow removal.

Act as a tool runner (distribute tools to and from work faces)

Spotting for heavy equipment (Guiding movement in and around work areas)

Cleaning ofcompanyvehicles and/or equipment.

Ground-man for rigging activities.

Cleaning and preparation of construction components (Modules- Process equipment etc.).

Join or sever metals in beams- girders- vessels- piping and other metal components

Make metal parts used in construction and manufacturing plants- and assist to weld parts- tools- machines and equipment

Assist welders in use of different welding processes and fillers depending upon the type of metal- its size and shape- and requirements for finished product strength.

Develop patterns for projects or follow directions given in layouts- blueprints and work orders; clean- check for defects and shape component parts- sometimes using a cutting torch weld parts together.

Assist welders in setting up equipment- preparing tools.

Any other task required by welders.

Conditions of Employment for this position are:

1. For positions that fall into the list of required positions within the AECOM Oil & Gas Background Check policy- qualified applicants who are offered- and accept- the role must complete a satisfactory pre-employment Background Check. This may consist of all or a combination of the following: Canadian Criminal Record check- an Employment Verification and/or an Education and Accreditation Verification.

2. Qualified applicants who are offered- and accept- a position must provide evidence of a satisfactory Alcohol & Drug test in accordance with the Company|s Alcohol & Drug Policy. In order to be valid- the test must have been conducted at the direction of AECOM – O&G Business Unit.

Minimum Requirements

Previous construction experience

Physical strength and stamina

Manual dexterity

Safety conscious attitude

Knowledge of Welding

Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS) Certification required

Valid Safety Tickets (H2S- First Aid)

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to work with others in a team

Ability to work at heights

Confined space entry ticket

Previous oilfield maintenance or facility construction experience considered an asset.

Responsibilities

Be skilful in the fusing of metals using prescribed welding applications

Have a working knowledge of the welding equipment involved with the various welding procedures

Comprehend drawings and develop layout patterns for projects and calculate quantities of materials

Have a thorough knowledge of metals- arc electrodes- welding gases and gas welding filler rods

Recognize defective welds; know the cause and proper procedure for the repair of the defective area

Have a working knowledge of mathematics calculations pertaining to the welding trade

Have a working knowledge of the required codes

Be familiar with the work of other trades people in affiliated trades

Perform assigned tasks in accordance with quality and production standards required by industry

Have a valid CWB in the process|s being used

Have a valid B-pressure ticket in the processes being used if required

AWP – Aerial work platform

Red Seal preferred or required by provincial regulations and standards.
