Job Description
A key member of our XTO Energy Canada – Measurement Department, you will work with the Field Measurement Team, ensuring that all products are produced in a manner that meets both internal and Government accuracy and reporting standards. Your primary responsibility, with the team, will be to ensure that maintenance of Measurement equipment is completed to government and company standards. One will also manage computerized equipment, maintenance schedules and inspection records. Qualified candidates must have ability to work a 4 days ON/2 days OFF – 4 days ON/4 days OFF shift rotation (Tuesday to Friday/Monday to Thrusday), and will be required to work overtime with occasional overnight travel. Work will also be required on Statutory Holidays when they fall within your schedule.

You will manage assignments as given by your supervisor and identify improvements to optimize equipment reliability, reduce downtime and erros. Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work in a team environment are key requirements of the position.


Perform skilled Measurement Technician duties including calibrations on all measurement devices.
Perform pre-startup Measurement inspections on wells and facilities before they come online or being re-commissioned.
Troubleshooting measurement issues on all types of measurement devices, both gas and liquid.
Working with third party producers to ensure our quality standards are met on all incoming product measurement.
Occasional supervision of vendors in the field working for the Measurement group.
Coordinating daily work and larger projects with both the operations and maintenance groups to ensure optimal use of resources and maximum runtime on wells.
Bench proving, and exchanging liquid meters in the field at the majority of our well sites.
Witnessing of truck loading and unloading activities.
Travel to various locations all over Central Alberta will be occasionally required.


High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is a minimum requirement
Measurement related training would be an asset
Instrumentation mechanic/technician ticket or equivalent experience would be an asset


Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the Measurement field, or 3 years in Instrumentation in a maintenance role
Experience in both liquid and gas measurement would be an asset
Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record is a requirment for this position
Experience with Excel, Calc-it, Prove-it, Flare Check, ROClink, ABB, Bristol and communications software for Rosemount field devices would be an asset

Start date: Q1, 2019

Location: Whitecourt, Alberta based, Kaybob 15-07-60-18W5 Plant Facility. Periodic travel required to Resthaven 02-10-60-1W6, with possible travel to the Drumheller, Slave Lake, and Grande Prairie areas (with overnight stays).

Successful candidates would be employed by Imperial Oil Limited and seconded to XTO Energy Canada.

Eligibility to work in Canada
