AECOM is seeking a Safety Advisor to join our team at our IOL Sarnia project
site in Sarnia- ON. This is a Future Opportunity
job position.
Develops and manages SH&E programs for the company- business lines- regions-
and/or clients. Provides leadership and support to Operations to help the
organization achieve SH&E goals and objectives. Assists the business to meet
regulatory requirements relating to specific SH&E obligations e.g. trained
SH&E professionals in business/projects- officer duties- statutory reporting
etc.

Under direct supervision- performs basic and routine duties in a wide range of environmental- health and safety disciplines to achieve compliance with the ES&H standards along with federal and state regulatory requirements.

Assists in the development- implementation and maintenance of safety and health programs- systems and procedures.

Assists in monitoring hazards and diseases that could be present in the work area.

Works with others to investigate accidents- injuries and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace.

Participates in recommending improvement in processes- design- procedures and equipment to minimize hazards.

Participates in employee training- emergency preparedness and assures the quality of programs.

The Safety Administrator will support and assist Safety- Health- and
Environment department in the administration of routine functions. This role
reports primarily to the Safety Manager but where directed will also support
the broader project team.
Performs work under close and direct supervision
Support and assist Safety- Health- and Environment department in the administration of routine functions- including- but not limited to: Incoming/outgoing mail sorting and distributing- purchasing- invoice submission and more.

Conduct safety inspections and audits

Review insurance reports and follow up for correction actions

Review other Health- Safety and Environment reports and follow up for correction actions

Attend and participate in foreman and safety meetings

Review contractor safety programs

Record keeping- including logging project accidents- incidents and near misses on AECOM`s internal reporting system

Job Summary
AECOM is currently seeking a Health & Safety Officer for the upcoming 4th
Canadian Division Training Centre Meaford Site Support Services proposal. The
anticipated project will provide operation and maintenance support for
facilities including HVAC systems- water systems- power systems-
transportation/transportation infrastructure- IT- food services- fire
services- waste management- supply- and accommodations. The Health & Safety
Officer will perform general health- safety and environmentally focused
support services- investigations- and analyses for the entire site including:
Functions with substantial subject matter knowledge and may provide support as either a member of a team or as an individual investigator.

Assesses and mitigates workplace hazards- perform studies and analysis- perform workplace inspections- conduct mishap and incident investigations- and generate reports.

Manages the contract Health- Safety and Environmental program to ensure compliance with Canadian General Industry Standards- Canadian Military- and AECOM Safety Management Standards pertaining to all three subject areas.

Maintains oversight to assure compliance with all existing- applicable regulations and directives.

Applies fall protection- confined spaces- lockout/tag out- hazardous waste requirements- and industrialized operation procedures when needed

Develop and maintain employee injury data and a statistical database to report incident rates and injury trends.

Participates in informal reviews- inspections- and audits using established procedures.

Assists in the maintenance and inventory of equipment and systems.

Analyzes data gathered from literature or collected from investigations.

Continuously monitors and maintains familiarity with the statutory requirements related to the environmental- safety- and health regulations.

Minimum Requirements

​Must have a modern Safety Management Course from a recognized institution or the DND General Safety Management Course.

3 years related experience in a safety management position.

Ability to gain and maintain a security clearance.

The incumbent must have an in-depth working knowledge of the technical concepts- principles- and requirements associated with the work unit.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduation from a two to four-year technical institute or college or equivalent formal technical training or military equivalent.

7 years of related experience as a Safety Trained Specialist.

An active security clearance.
