Job Summary
AECOM is seeking Electrician Apprentices to join our team at our Calgary
location. This is a full time position .
Electricians install- alter- repair and maintain electrical systems designed
to provide heat- light- power- control- signal or fire alarms for all types of
buildings- structures and premises.
Be able to take directions- and receptive to training and mentoring;
Expertly identify and able to proficiently install almost all material components;
Proficient conduit skills;
Proficient circuitry planning and installations;

Proficiently read and comprehend drawings and specifications;

Proficient control systems planning and installation;

Proficient tool usage- both personal (personal tools minimum listed below) and supplied;

Conditions of Employment for this position are:

1. 2. Qualified applicants who are offered- and accept- a position must provide evidence of a satisfactory Alcohol & Drug test in accordance with the Company|s Alcohol & Drug Policy. In order to be valid- the test must have been conducted at the direction of AECOM – O&G Business Unit.

This position will be required to drive a vehicle on behalf of AECOM and therefore will require the candidate to submit a satisfactory driver|s abstract for review.

Title Construction and Maintenance Electrician
Position Overview
Under general supervision, the Construction and Maintenance Electrician will be responsible for installation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting and repair of heavy industrial electrical equipment and associated electrical and electronic controls. Work involves preventative and corrective maintenance, inspections, modifications, installation/dismantling of systems and projects within the trade, and troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairs of construction equipment. The position is located in Milton, Ontario.

Key Responsibilities
Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations
Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fibre-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components
Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance
Maintain, repair, install and test switchgear, transformers, switchboard meters, regulators and reactors
Maintain, repair, test and install electrical motors, generators, alternators, and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems.
Troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial, electrical and electronic control systems and other related devices
Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records
May install, maintain and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices.
Required Knowledge & Skills
Completion of a four- or five-year Construction and Maintenance electrician apprenticeship program or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in industrial electrical is preferred.
Additional construction electrician certification is considered an asset.
Good understanding of motor control circuits
Good troubleshooting skills
Solid understanding of PLC controls
Available to work extended hours. Willing to travel.
Displays initiative, diligence and reliability
Effective interpersonal skills (oral and written communication)
Physically fit: heavy lifting, climbing, and working around heavy equipment is required

Your contribution:

Prioritize work orders to ensure completion based on urgency and maintain a log of all repairs.
Handling basic repairs and maintenance on our facilities including items such as windows, doors, lights, appliances, equipment, fixtures, flooring, janitorial, roofs, landscaping, and others as directed by the Property Manager.
Diagnose and repair basic to intermediate plumbing, heating and electrical problems.
Accurately report and communicate all service requests to Site Manager before performing any additional tasks.
Lift, move, assemble and disassemble office furniture and hang picture frames, white boards, cabinets etc.
Other duties as assigned by Property Manager.
What it takes to be part of our dynamic team:

Demonstrated carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and painting skills, with at least 3 years’ experience in building maintenance.
Knowledge of hand tools and repair equipment.
Intermediate computer skills.
24/7 availability on rotation will be required.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Must have valid driver’s license, with clean drivers abstract.
The qualified applicant will come equipped with their own tools and safety equipment.
Ability to maintain focus while working individually
